House of Lords
31 October 2023
The Education (Non-religious Philosophical Convictions) Bill would require schools to include non-religious philosophical convictions in the curriculum alongside religious education. It would also ensure that people who hold non-religious beliefs are represented on local SACREs and at agreed syllabus conferences to help shape RE teaching across schools.
The bill is currently at the Second Reading in the Lords; if it progresses, it would move to committee stage and onward through Parliament.
