This Bill would let asylum seekers challenge, in an independent court or tribunal, whether an eviction from their accommodation is proportionate. It also sets out formal eviction procedures that public authorities must follow when housing asylum seekers. In short, it creates a legal route to contest evictions and standard rules for how such evictions should be carried out.
Currently at its first reading in the House of Commons (20 June 2022). No further stages have yet been scheduled.
