A Bill to replace the House of Lords with an elected senate; and for connected purposes.
House of Commons
1 November 2023
This bill would abolish the current House of Lords and replace it with a new elected Senate. It would set out how Senators are chosen, how long they serve, and how the Senate would operate and interact with the House of Commons and other parts of Parliament. In short, it moves from an appointed Lords to an elected parliamentary chamber and includes related transitional provisions.
