The City of London (Markets) Bill was deposited on 28 November 2022.

It was examined for compliance with the Private Business Standing Orders on 19 December 2022 and 25 January 2023.

The Bill received its first reading in the House of Commons on 30 January 2023.

Following the Bill's formal introduction to the House at its first reading, there was a petitioning period, during which time individuals, groups and organisations which are directly and specially affected by the Bill were able to submit a petition against the Bill outlining their objections to it.
