The Pets (Theft and Importation) Bill would make it a crime to steal dogs and would deter the unlawful importation of certain animals into Great Britain. It sets out new offences and related powers to help enforce these aims and protect animals.
Status: 1st Reading in the House of Commons (introduced 6 June 2023). If it progresses, it would move to the 2nd Reading and then committee stage in due course.
