This Bill would set a formal legal definition of bullying at work and allow people to bring bullying claims to an employment tribunal. It also introduces a Respect at Work Code with minimum standards for a positive, respectful workplace and gives the Equality and Human Rights Commission power to investigate organisations with bullying cultures and to take enforcement action. If enacted, the measures would apply across workplaces in the UK and tie into broader equality and civil rights protections.
Currently at the Commons 1st reading stage (introduced July 2023). After this, the bill would proceed to detailed examination in Committee stage and subsequent stages if progressed.
