The Public Service (Integrity and Ethics) Bill aims to raise standards of honesty and conduct across the public service. It would set out how integrity and ethics should be promoted and protected and create the mechanisms to enforce them, plus related measures to support accountability. The provisions would apply to those working in central and local government and to bodies that deliver public services.
The Bill is at its 1st Reading in the Lords. Supporting documents, including a Select Committee report and Explanatory Notes, are available to guide scrutiny. It will progress to the next stages in the Lords before moving to the Commons.
