The Bill would change the law to require the person in charge of a dog to take all reasonable steps to ensure their dog does not fatally injure another dog. It amends the Animal Welfare Act 2006 to embed this duty in law and to clarify who is responsible for a dog’s welfare. The aim is to reduce fatal dog attacks by increasing owner accountability.
