The Telecommunications Infrastructure (Consultation) Bill would require mandatory local consultation before installing telecommunications infrastructure in residential areas. It would set out how such consultations should be carried out and who must be involved, with the aim of giving communities a clearer voice in where and how equipment is placed.
The bill is currently at the second reading in the Commons. If it progresses, it will move to committee stage for detailed examination and then to further readings before becoming law.
