A Bill to make provision about arranging alternative non-NHS England treatment for patients who have waited for more than one year for hospital treatment; and for connected purposes.
House of Commons
Sir Christopher ChopeConservative
12 February 2025
The NHS England (Alternative Treatment) Bill would require NHS England to arrange alternative treatment outside its usual hospital services for patients who have waited more than a year for hospital care. It also sets out how these arrangements should be made and funded, and covers related provisions to support implementation. The aim is to provide a formal option for long-wait patients to receive care through non-NHS England channels.
Currently at the 2nd reading in the House of Commons. If it advances, it would progress to committee stage for detailed examination before possible further readings.
