A Bill to pardon miners convicted of certain offences committed during the 1984–85 miners' strike.
House of Commons
12 February 2025
The Miners’ Strike (Pardons) Bill would formally pardon miners who were convicted of certain offences during the 1984–85 miners' strike. It sets out a framework for deciding which convictions are covered and how those pardons should be recorded. In effect, it seeks official recognition of those convictions and a mechanism to clear them from records where appropriate.
The bill is currently at the second reading in the House of Commons. If it progresses, it will move to the committee stage for detailed examination.
