This bill removes monetary limits on the proceeds that lottery operators must provide under their mandatory licence conditions. It could allow larger sums from lotteries to be directed to good causes, subject to the normal regulation of gambling licences. In short, it gives lotteries more flexibility in funding charitable and public-benefit activities.
The bill is at the second reading stage in the Commons. It has progressed through the first reading and is moving through the Commons’ stages, but has not yet reached committee scrutiny or the Lords.
