This Bill would keep the National Health Service (NHS) out of international trade deals by excluding NHS procurement, delivery and commissioning from any trade agreements. It would also require the consent of the House of Commons and the devolved legislatures for trade deals that affect the NHS and Health and Social Care in Northern Ireland. The aim is to protect NHS policy and funding from being shaped by international trade rules.
The bill is at the 2nd reading stage in the House of Commons and has progressed from the first reading; further stages will follow in due course.
