This Bill would allow either House of Parliament to amend a draft statutory instrument that uses the affirmative resolution procedure before it is approved. In practical terms, MPs or peers could tweak the drafting or effects of the instrument during its passage, rather than waiting for final approval. It applies to all draft SIs subject to the affirmative procedure and related changes.
The Bill is currently at the 2nd Reading in the House of Commons (scheduled for 17 April 2026). If it passes, it would move to further stages in the Commons and then to the Lords for consideration.
