Anonymity of Suspects Bill would make it a criminal offence to disclose the identity of someone who is the subject of an investigation for an alleged offence. It aims to protect the privacy of suspects during investigations by preventing disclosures that could reveal who they are.
The bill is currently at the 2nd Reading in the Commons. After this, it would move to detailed examination in Committee Stage and then on to further readings before moving to the Lords if it passes.
