The Local Government (Infrastructure Requirement Plans) Bill would require local planning authorities to assess the infrastructure needed to support future housing and commercial development and to prepare plans outlining how that infrastructure will be provided. The plans must cover sectors such as health, water, sewage, education and transport, must involve consultation, and the cost of preparing the plan would be borne by the planning consent applicant.
