This bill would require the Secretary of State to publish and keep under review a strategy to improve the provision of services for adults in England with dementia and for their carers. It would also require the Secretary of State to report annually to Parliament on how the strategy is being implemented, and to issue guidance that local authorities, the NHS and other bodies must follow. The aim is to improve the quality, consistency and coordination of dementia care and support across England.
The bill is currently at the second reading in the House of Commons and would need to proceed through further stages (committee, report, third reading) and then Lords consideration before it could become law.
