House of Commons
8 April 2010
The Bill would give planning authorities power to require change-of-use planning permission before a home becomes a second home. It also requires the Secretary of State to study options to limit full-time homes from becoming part-time, allows local councils to levy business rates on second homes, and prevents second home owners from qualifying for small business rate relief.
The bill is currently at the second reading in the House of Commons and would need to progress through the remaining stages in both Houses to become law.
