A Bill to require the Secretary of State to conduct a cross-departmental analysis of the potential costs and benefits of advancing time by one hour for all, or part of, the year; to require the Secretary of State to take certain action in the light of that analysis; and for connected purposes.
The Bill would require the Government to conduct a cross-departmental analysis of the potential costs and benefits of advancing time by one hour for all, or part of, the year. If this analysis found that a clock change would benefit the UK, the Bill requires that the Government initiate a trial clock change to determine the full implications.
This bill would require the government to study what would happen if the UK moved its clocks forward by one hour for all or part of the year. If the study finds a benefit, the government must run a trial to test the full effects of changing the clock.
The bill is currently at the Commons' report stage, where MPs will debate amendments. If passed, it would proceed to the Lords for consideration.
