A Bill to enable the national minimum wage to be varied to reflect local labour market conditions; and for connected purposes.
This Bill would allow the national minimum wage to be varied to reflect local labour market conditions. In other words, different areas could have different minimum wage rates if Parliament approves the changes. It is a proposal currently being considered in the House of Commons.
The bill is at the Second Reading in the House of Commons. If it passes, it would move on to further stages in both Houses before becoming law.
