The Carers (Identification and Support) Bill would require health bodies and general practitioners, and certain other organisations, to identify people who are carers or who have a carer. It would then require those identified carers to be referred to sources of help and support, and it sets out related duties for local authorities and schools to support young carers and their families.
The bill is at the second reading in the House of Commons, having originated there. It has not yet progressed to the Lords.
