This bill aims to raise awareness of abuse affecting elderly people and adults at risk, and to improve how such abuse is recognised and dealt with. It promotes training for people who may encounter abuse in their work, and asks agencies involved in care services to understand and protect victims’ rights, while supporting local plans to prevent abuse and help victims recover.
The bill is at the 2nd reading in the House of Commons. If it progresses, it would move to committee stage and then subsequent readings before moving to the Lords.
