The Planning (Green Belt Protection) Bill would give local planning authorities more powers to act against unauthorised development on green belt and greenfield land. It aims to strengthen protection for these areas and introduce related measures to help enforcement and land management.
The bill is currently at the 2nd reading in the House of Commons. After this stage it would typically move to committee for detailed scrutiny, then to report stage and third reading before progressing to the Lords.
