Make provision for a statutory right to rehabilitation leave for newly disabled people and people whose existing impairments change; and for connected purposes.
House of Commons
25 October 2007
The Employment Retention Bill would create a statutory right to rehabilitation leave for workers who have newly become disabled or whose impairments have changed. This leave is intended to help them access rehabilitation and related support at work so they can stay in employment or return to work after impairment. The bill also sets out connected provisions to implement and enforce this right.
The bill is at the 2nd Reading in the Commons. If it progresses, it will move to committee stage for detailed examination, followed by Report and Third Readings, and then proceed to the Lords.
