A Bill to impose a duty on the devolved administrations to report annually on the Military Covenant and the effects of membership, or former membership, of the armed forces on service people; and for connected purposes
House of Commons
2 May 2012
This bill would require the devolved administrations—Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland—to publish an annual report on the Armed Forces Covenant (sometimes historically called the Military Covenant) and how being in the armed forces, or having left it, affects service personnel and their families. The reports would explain what the devolved governments are doing to address these effects and how policy supports the armed forces community.
The bill is at the second reading in the House of Commons. If it passes this stage, it would move on to the committee stage for detailed examination, before going to the Lords and on to potential royal assent.
