The Travellers (Unauthorised Encampments) Bill would give police forces and local authorities in England and Wales powers to remove unauthorised Traveller encampments more quickly. It aims to reduce delays in dispersing camps while including safeguards and information about possible alternative sites for Travellers where appropriate.
The bill is currently at the 2nd reading in the House of Commons and will move to committee stage for detailed scrutiny if it progresses.
